General Notes: Husband - Howard A. Moore


While under the parental roof, he was attending school, and assisting his father at carpentering during the summer months. After leaving home he served an apprenticeship under Dr. C. H. Else, a druggist, of Milesburg, Pennsylvania, with whom he remained for three years. He then established a store in Howard, Centre County, and carried on a large and profitable drug business.
In 1876 he was elected town clerk of Howard, which office he filled for one year; he was a member of the school board nine years; councilman three years; and in May, 1885, was first appointed postmaster at Howard, was reappointed in May, 1890, and again on September 21, 1893. Fraternally he held membership in Lick Run Lodge No. 311, I. O. O. F., of Howard; and Bellefonte Lodge No. 268, F. & A. M. Politically he was a Democrat.
