He was educated at a common school. His parents came to Sugarcreek township, Venango County, Pennsylvania, in 1833. He made many removals and then located on a farm owned later by Clark Warden, where he lived thirty-four years and then moved to Mercer County. Jacob came to where he now resides, in March, 1831.[?] Was a farmer and teamster. [HVC 1879, 591]
