General Notes: Husband - Solomon Wolfe

He was born in a part of Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, that later became Lebanon County.
At the age of seventeen, he went to Freedensburg, to learn the trade of a tanner, where he remained three years. He then went to Mifflin coun-ty, PA, where his parents had gone in 1829. Here he worked for a short time for Wm. McKee. In 1831, went to Centre county and worked till 1839, with Wm. Burnsides in the tan yard at Potter's Mills. In the spring of 1840 came to Venango county, Cranberry township, and located on a farm. There were but five acres of cleared land on his farm, and but few im-provements in that locality. He was educated in the subscription schools and early learned the tanner's trade, which he followed for many years, working at ten dollars per month. In 1839 he purchased an unimproved farm in Cranberry township, Venango county, PA, and one year later located thereon, where he remained until his death. Early he became identified with the Evangelical Association, in the faith of which he died. Mr. Wolfe and his entire family adhered strictly to the principles of the Repub-lican party.
