In 1833 he moved his family removed to Jefferson County, PA, where they resided until 1849, when the parents went to Lawrence County, to reside with their son, Samuel. After the mother died, the father and Samuel subsequently removed to Illinois, and there died. They reared six sons and three daughters, only two of whom, Nicholas, of Jefferson County, PA, and Jesse, of Greenville, PA, were living in 1888.
