General Notes: Husband - George McElhaney


His father came from Scotland to America.

In 1782 he made application for a tract of 400 acres of land in Beaver County, Pennsylvania. He died at the residence of Thomas Butler, at the age of sixty-two years. At the time of his settlement the Indians were numerous, and he was one of the most daring Indian scouts on the frontier.

Notes: Marriage

The young people failed to obtain the permission of their parents, but, escaping the vigilance of the latter, they were married and settled in their new home in the wilderness.
