He came with his father from Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, [same source: from near Carlisle, Cumberland County,] about 1770, and settled in Forward township, Allegheny County. He was a justice of the peace, and did an immense business as an official, being held in high esteem. He had received a liberal education, and became deservedly prominent in his section.
