He attended the district schools and worked on the farm until he was eighteen years of age, when he entered Slippery Rock State Normal School. Upon leaving that institution he taught school at Brewster, and later at Unionville, after which he matriculated at the Western University of Pennsylvania. He was graduated in 1905, with the degree of M. D., after which he served as intern in the General Hospital at Uniontown. He then opened his office for practice at Portersville. Fraternally, he was a member of the Lawrence County Medical Society.

He was educated in the public schools of Butler County, being graduated from the high school therein, in Slippery Rock State Normal School, and in the Medical College of the University of Pittsburgh, from which he was graduated in 1905 with the degree of Doctor of Medicine. For one year subsequent to his graduation, Dr. Snyder was an interne in the Uniontown Hospital, in Uniontown, county capital of Fayette County, and then went back to Butler County, where, in Portersville, near his birthplace, he began the practice of medicine, and there he remained for ten years, becoming prominent in the interim as a physician and surgeon. In 1915 he moved to New Castle.
Dr. Snyder was a Republican by political choice and affiliation, and he was a member of the Lawrence County Medical Society of which he was at one time president; the Medical Society of the State of Pennsylvania; and the American Medical Association. He also belonged to Lodge of the Craft, No. 433, Free and Accepted Masons; Delta Chapter, No. 170, Royal Arch Masons; Hermaine Council, No. 45, Royal and Select Masters; Lawrence Commandery, No. 62, Knights Templar; Valley of New Castle Consistory, all of New Castle; and Syria Temple, Ancient Arabic Order Nobles of the Mystic Shrine of Pittsburgh. His clubs were the New Castle Field and the New Castle Lions. His church was the Baptist.
