David J. Payne Dies Tuesday In Rest Home
David Jackson Payne, 85, of 21Graff St., former machinist and paper-hanging contractor, died at 2:30 p. m. Tuesday at the Fieldmore Springs Rest Home in Titusville following an extended illness.
Mr. Payne was born March 20, 1876, in Oil City, a son of Norman Jerome and Mary Belle Rarer Payne. A resident of Oil City all his life, he attended Oil City schools.
For many years he worked as a machinist for the Oil City Boiler Works and was a paper-hanging contractor for more than 25 years.
He and the former Myrtle Lusher were married in 1942. She survives.
Mr. Payne attended the Methodist Church.
Besides his widow, he is survived by two step-daughters, Mrs. Ethel Carlin of Oil City and Mrs. Margaret Gabler of Youngstown, Ohio; a brother, James R. Payne of Oil City, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in this locality.
His first wife, the former Carrie Stuck of Fertigs, died in 1923. Two sisters and a brother of Mr. Payne are also deceased. Friends may call at the Hutchinson and Morton Funeral Home after 7 p. m. today. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 2 p. m. Friday with Rev. Russell Lewis, pastor of the Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Interment will be in Grove Hill Cemetery.

Funeral services for David Jackson Payne of 21 Graff St., who died Tuesday were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the Hutchinson and Morton Funeral Home.
Rev. Russell Lewis, pastor of the Church of the Nazarene, officiated. Interment was made in Grove Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Norman Canada, Floyd Payne, H. P. Delo, Edward Payne, Norman Whitling and William Caldwell.

Mrs. J. Payne, 89, Dies In Youngstown
YOUNGSVILLE - Mrs. Jack (Myrtle B.) Payne, 89, of 46 S. Hartford Ave., formerly of Oil City, Pa., died at 12:35 p.m. Wednesday of infirmities.
She was born June 20, 1878, in Hickory Township, a daughter of John and Sarah Lusher.
She made her home in Oil City until six years ago when she came to Youngstown to live with her daughter, Mrs. Peg Gabler.
She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene of Oil City.
In addition to her daughter, she is survived by seven grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Higgins Funeral Home, 4303 Mahoning Ave.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home with Rev. H. S. Mills of the Vickliffe Church of Nazarene in charge.
Interment will be in the Grove Hill Cemetery, Oil City.

Mrs. Myrtle B. Payne, 89, of 46 S. Hartford Ave., died of infirmities at 12:35 p.m. Wednesday in the Mahoning County Nursing Home after a two-year illness.
Mrs. Payne was born June 20, 1878, in Hickory, Pa., a daughter of John and Sarah Lusher, and came to Youngstown six years ago from Oil City, Pa. She was a member of Church of the Nazarene, Oil City. Her husband, Jack, died in 1960.
She leaves a daughter, Mrs. Peg Gabler, with whom she lived; seven grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Higgins Funeral Home, where friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today. Burial will be in Oil City.
