After he married Myrtle Lusher, they lived in West Hickory, Forest County, Pennsylvania, for a short time, then moved to East Hickory for about 3 years, then to Tionesta for 3 years and then to Warren, Warren County, Pennsylvania, for about 3 years, and finally to Oil City, Venango County. She filed for divorce in August, 1921 and at that time he was living in Scio, Harrison County, Ohio, having deserted her December 24, 1919. The divorce papers show she had previously charged him with adultery, naming one Lottie Anderson. He was arrested and pleaded "no contest" and was sentenced to time in the work house. Upon his release, he again took up with Lottie Anderson. Obituaries for family members show him living in Clarion County (1930, 1934) and then in President, Venango County (1941, 1954).
