General Notes: Husband - Theodore Schettler

The founder of the American branch of the family of this name, he was born in Germany. He received his rudimentary educational training in his native country, and immigrated to the United States, locating first in Baltimore, Maryland. Shortly after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Schettler came to Knox township, Clarion County, Pennsylvania, and set up housekeeping on a farm of about one hundred acres. He was engaged in farming operations during the remainder of his lifetime and died on his homestead. He was a Democrat in politics, and in his religious faith a devout communicant of the Roman Catholic church.

He was born in Baden, Germany, where he was educated and lived until his immigration when a young man to the United States. He settled in Baltimore, Maryland, where he married soon afterward, coming to Clarion County, Pennsylvania, and becoming foreman of the stock department at Lucinda Furnace, then operated by the Street Company. He remained with that company for several years, then purchased a farm of sixty acres in Knox township to which he added twenty-one acres more. He continued a farmer until his death. He was a Democrat and served several terms as supervisor.
