General Notes: Husband - Jariah Lewis

He bought, in November, 1796, one-half of a saw mill that was built in 1785 at Fair Haven (Vermont?) by Gamaliel Leonard, and he seems to have rebuilt the mill but not to have owned it long, for on December 31, 1803, "John Coggswell of Whitehall, N. Y." sold one-half of the mill built by Jariah Lewis to James Witherill. Mr. Lewis also lived at Georgia, Vermont. He held the rank of captain. He was killed in a saw mill accident at Poultney, Vermont.
