General Notes: Husband - William Alexander Schettler

His education was received at the parochial schools of Lucinda, Clarion County, Pennsylvania, which he attended as well as the schools of Knox township, and at the conclusion of his studies assisted his father on the farm. At the age of twenty-four years he became a farmer on his own account, farming his father's farm, and continued there for eight years. He then left Knox township and moved to Leeper, in 1900. He entered the hotel business which he pursued in Farmington township for a number of years. In 1908 he returned to the farm in Knox township, where he followed the old calling for a year and eight months, and where his son later succeeded him. Mr. Schettler came to own one hundred and seven acres of farm land and also had six lots of ground and the large hotel known as the Leeper House. He was the proprietor of five gas wells in all, four of them being located on the farm, and the remaining one on the lots which he owned. He became one of the most important and influential men in that locality, and conducted a very prosperous business in general farming and stock raising. He was a Democrat politically, and was treasurer of Farmington township for a year.
He and his wife were members of the Catholic church at Crown, in Clarion County.
