General Notes: Husband - James Pierce

Sewickley Twp, Westmoreland Co, PA

He was reared on the home farm in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, and shortly after his marriage went to Westmoreland County. He settled on the farm where his son David R. later lived, purchasing the estate in connection with his brother William. They also bought the old Carrothers farm in Sewickley township. He was also the owner of other farms, and possessed about one thousand acres of valuable coal land. He was a Democrat in politics, and for many years an elder in the United Presbyterian church.
He and his wife had seven children; five were still living in 1906.
