General Notes: Husband - Richard G. Greenawalt

He was educated in the common schools of his native place. September 4, 1861, he enlisted in Company E, One Hundred and Fifth Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, called the "Wildcats" and served twenty months in the Peninsula campaign. After some months with the One Hundred and Fifth he was transferred to Knapp's Battery. After returning from the war, he took up the study of dentistry, which he had already begun at the time of his enlistment, finishing in Pittsburgh, where he practiced for several years. His health failed under the demands of a heavy practice, and in 1871 he settled on a farm in Sewickley township, Westmoreland County, where he lived for eighteen years. He then retired from active life and removed to West Newton, where he then resided. He was a director and stock-holder of the Farmers' and Merchants' Bank, a member of the town council and the owner of a public hall in the town. He was also an active member of the United Presbyterian church.
