General Notes: Husband - Francis G. King

He received his education in the public schools of Jamestown, New York. In the spring of 1862, when the oil excitement in Pennsylvania was at its height, he and his brother, Harry J. King, went to Titusville, where they engaged in the hardware business and enjoyed unbounded success. He remained in Titusville three years, and then disposed of his business and removed to Rochester, New York, where he again became actively engaged in business. After nine years in that city his health began to fail and he was compelled to seek a different climate. He accordingly went to Denver, Colorado, which was then a new city, and growing rapidly. Mr. King engaged in the real estate business, besides being largely interested in milling and mining industries. He identified himself with the growth of the city and won prominence in social, as well as business circles. In March, 1885, he returned to Rochester, New York, where he remained until 1896, when he came to Warren, Pennsylvania, where he resided until his death.
Mr. King was not a man who took an active interest in politics. He was a member of the Conewango Club beginning from its organization, and also a member of the Conewango Fishing Club. He was a great traveler, taking a trip around the world in 1890, and many other trips to foreign lands.
