In 1841 he moved from Canal Township, Venango County, Pennsylvania, to Warren, Warren County, where he was a blacksmith. He married there and in 1845, they moved to Blooming Grove Township, Richland County, Ohio, and by 1860 had moved to Brighton Township, Lorain County, Ohio.
