General Notes: Husband - Charles M. Jamison

For his education he attended the local public schools and was prepared in the Greensburg Seminary for a college course. He then entered Princeton University, in the year 1887, and was graduated with the class of 1891. Upon completing his studies at this institution, he followed the profession of civil engineering for some two years, during the latter part of which time he had made up his mind to devote himself to the law. Accordingly, he entered the law office of John M. Jamison, where he pursued his studies, and was admitted to practice at the Westmoreland County bar in 1895. He then opened his office at Greensburg and practiced his profession until the outbreak of the Spanish-American War in 1898. Mr. Jamison then volunteered his services and enlisted in Company I, Tenth Regiment of Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. He went with his body of men to the Philippine Islands, where it had been ordered by the government and where he saw active service for upwards of a year. In 1899 he returned from the Philippines and began business once more in the home community. On this occasion he took up the coal and coke business, in which his father was already greatly interested, and in the course of time became identified with The Jamison Coal and Coke Company in the capacity of secretary. Mr. Jamison was also identified with several other large and influential concerns. He was a member of various societies and fraternal organizations, and in his religious belief belonged to the Second Reformed Church of Greensburg, and was a trustee of the church. In politics he was a Republican, but was not ambitious for either political preferment or public office.
