General Notes: Husband - Robert Jameson

He occupied the old family homestead which his father established in 1769. The old house was still standing in 1898, with its huge fireplace. He was the last survivor of his father's family.

He received a good common school education, and for a time followed the profession of teaching. This was about 1820. He then began his active career as a farmer, working with his father on the home farm, and later succeeded to its ownership. Mr. Jamison was an old line Whig, and later a Republican. When the law creating free public schools was passed, he was one of the surveyors appointed to divide the township into school districts, and took an active part in establishing the new system. He served as school director several years and was a leader in his township. In the war of 1812-14 he was a soldier and aided in the building of Fort Meigs. In religious faith he was an adherent to the Presbyterian denomination, he and his family belonging to the Pleasant Unity congregation.
