General Notes: Husband - George W. Lias

The source states that he was born in 1884, but this is obviously wrong.

He was reared on the farm, attended the common schools and was engaged in farming until 1865. Before he quit farming he learned the trade of blacksmith and carriage-builder, and followed that business at Dayton, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania.
During Buchanan's administration he left the Democratic and joined the Know-nothing party, and finally became a Republican. Although never asking for office, he was elected school director, besides serving his borough for five years as justice of the peace. He was a charter member of Dayton Lodge, No. 400, Senior Order of United American Mechanics, and was a steward of the Methodist Episcopal church for twenty-seven years or more. He owned valuable real estate in the borough besides his carriage factory and blacksmith shop. His establishment was 40x50 feet with a 20x40 foot wing, two stories high.
