General Notes: Husband - Henry George Hoon

He was born in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, five miles north of Harrisburg, and was of German extraction. In 1818 he settled in Oakland township, Butler County, purchasing 400 acres of land, upon which he made his home down to his death.

He was of Pennsylvania Dutch descent, and was a soldier in the Revolutionary War.

At the early age of seventeen he became a soldier in the Revolutionary war and is known to have been a participant in the battle of Brandywine. In 1818 he removed his family from their Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, home to Butler County, where he remained until his death.

He came to Butler County, Pennsylvania, in 1818, from Harrisburg, bringing his family and many of his household possessions. He built a log house on his wild farm in Oakland Township and the remainder of his life was mainly given to the clearing and improving of his land.

He was a member of the State militia, and at the age of seventeen years participated in the battle of the Brandywine during the Revolution. He lived for many years at Lewistown, on the West branch of the Susquehanna river. In 1818 he moved from that place to a farm, where his son Anthony later resided. There he died, aged a little short of seventy-seven years. He was twice married.
