General Notes: Husband - John Hoon

He was born in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, and there learned the tanner's trade. He came with his parents to Butler County in 1818, and at the age of twenty-five engaged as a teamster between Pittsburg and Erie. In 1832 he settled on a farm in Centre township, where his son Thomas R. would later reside, and spent the remaining years of his life in farming. He was one of the leading Democrats of his township, held nearly all the township offices at different periods, and was lieutenant in the old State Militia. He was one of the early members of the United Presbyterian church of Butler, and an elder in that body for many years.
