J. H. Ziegler, who has been a resident of this county most all his life, died at the family residence at Mt. Zion at 1:15 Friday morning of a complication of diseases. He was born on May 15, 1858, and spent most of his life at Mt. Zion. He is survived by his wife, two sons and three daughters, besides the following sisters: Misses Mary and Zelda Ziegler, of Franklin; Mrs. S. R. Rote, of Maple Shade, and Mrs. M. C. Ross, of Oil City.
Funeral services will be held in the Mt. Zion church on Sunday afternoon, at 2:30 o'clock, and the interment will be in the Mt. Zion cemetery.

J. H. Zeigler died early Friday morning at his home at Mt. Zion, this county, after suffering some time from a complication of diseases. He was born at Mt. Zion, May 15, 1858, and all of his life of nearly a half century was spent in that vicinity. Mr. Zeigler is survived by his wife and five children - Harley J. Zeigler, of Oil City; Ralph, and the Misses Lena, Fannie and Vera, all residing at home. Also by four sisters - Misses Mary and Zelda, of Franklin; Mrs. S. R. Rote, of Maple Shade, and Mrs. M. C. Ross, of Oil City.
The funeral services will be held in the Mt. Zion church at 2:30 p. m. Sunday.

May have had another son, Donald Roy, who died as an infant Sept 15, 1901.

Mrs. Mary Elmedia Ziegler.
Mrs. Mary Elmedia Ziegler, 81, widow of John Howe Ziegler, died at 8:30 o'clock Friday morning at her home in Van, after an illness of several months.
The daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ebenezer Hogue, she was born at Hogue Hill Dec. 28, 1857. She had been a resident of Van for the past 00 years and was well known throughout that section of Venango County. She was a member of the Van Methodist Episcopal Church and the oldest member of the Service Class of the church school.
Surviving are two sons and three daughters: Harley Ziegler, of Philadelphia, formerly of Franklin; Ralph Ziegler, Van; Mrs. G. M. Hess, Mrs. H. O. Beck, Van; Mrs. Thomas Exley, Port Arthur, Tex. Fifteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren also suvive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Elmedia Ziegler, 81, of Van, widow of John Howe Ziegler, who died at her home Friday morning, were conducted at the Van M. E. Church at 2 p. m. Monday.
Rev. McNulty, pastor of the church, officiated at the services, assisted by Rev. A. C. Locke, of Franklin, and Rev. Nunemaker.
Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery with the following acting as pall-bearers: Willis, Lawrence and Norman Hess, Lloyd Ziegler, Lyle and John Beck.
Following are those who attended the services from away:
Major and Mrs. H. J. Ziegler, of Philadelphia; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Ziegler, of DuBois; Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Ziegler, of Franklin; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Irwin, of Rocky Grove; and Mrs. Alice Smith, of Oil City.
Mrs. Ziegler was a life-long resident of Venango County. She could trace her ancestry to the Revolutionary period, and was the second daughter of Ebenezer and Elizabeth Hogue.
She and her husband were the third owners of the original Ziegler farm home, hewn from virgin timber by Jacob Ziegler, who pioneered in an ox-drawn wagon from Old Fort, Center County, in 1825. A portion of the farm was donated by the original owner for a church and cemetery.
