General Notes: Husband - Harley Jacob Ziegler


He lived in Franklin, Pennsylvania; was a civil engineer, and was connected with the Atlantic Refining Company Eclispe Works for twenty years. Previous to this, he was with the Pennsylvania Highway Department of the Pennsylvania Rail Road Company.
On Jan. 11, 1913, Mr. Ziegler was commissioned First Lieutenant, National Guards; advanced to rank of Captain, May 10, 1919\emdash mustered out with this rank, June 14, 1920. He assisted in reorganizing the Pennsylvania National Guards, and was commissioned First Lieutenant, July 10, 1920, assigned to Company L., 112th Infantry; promoted to the rank of Captain, June 24, 1922, serving until July 12, 1927, when he resigned and applied for commission as Captain United States Army Reserve, Dec. 21, 1927. He received his commission as Major, Sept. 23, 1932.

Residing in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in Feb, 1939.

MRS. HARLEY J. ZIEGLER DIES SUDDENLY THURSDAY
Was Recovering From Operation at Hospital - Member of the First M. E. Church.
Death unexpectedly claimed Mrs. Anna Ziegler, aged 46, wife of Harley J. Ziegler, at 10:15 o'clock Thursday morning in the Franklin Hospital after it was thought that she was recovering from an operation performed on Monday. Peritonitis having set in is ascribed as the cause of her death.
She was born on Jan. 2, 1882, at Hill City, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Hill. The mother died on June 16, 1927.
The deceased attended the public schools of Venango county and Allegheny College and was a general favorite among her classmates. On Jan. 21, 1903, she married Mr. Ziegler and they lived in Pittsburgh and Oil City before locating in Franklin 18 years ago. The couple celebrated their silver anniversary this year.
Surviving besides the husband and father are a son, Floyd, of this city, a daughter, Oromel, at home; one brother, Gerald G. Hill, of Hill City, two sisters, Mrs. Olin E. Mark, of Rocky Grove, and Mrs. C. F. Adamson, of Meadville.
Mrs. Ziegler was a member of the First Methodist Episcopal church and of its allied organizations, taking an active part in furtherance of the church's progress. She was also a member of the Willard W. C. T. U. Busy as she ever was in doing good, she was none the less faithful to her home duties and was always a loyal wife and mother. Her acquaintanceship was wide and her friends many.
