He and his wife came to America in 1849, from Germany, settling in Butler County, Pennsylvania, where both died.

He came to the United States, settled at Millerstown, Pennsylvania, on a farm and spent the remainder of his life there. He and his wife were both German Lu-therans and thrifty, industrious people.
