She was an invalid most of her life, and had unusual ability: when she and a number of people placed their hands on a table it started moving violently around the room. When she took her hands off the table, it did not move. When several strong men tried to hold the table down when she had her hands on it, the table continued to move about the room, and they could not hold it still. The family never understood how an invalid such as Harriet Heron was, could have such powers, and they were afraid of the consequences, attribu-ting it to the "devil."
