General Notes: Husband - John F. "Peach John" McCandless

He was born March 22. [HBC 1895, 1069]
He and his wife set up housekeeping in a log house, in which there were no doors, quilts being hung over the apertures for that purpose. The first house erected by him was a log structure of two stories, with a two-story front porch, and it was regarded as one of the best houses then in the township. Here they lived until their respective deaths; all their children being born therein.

He lived with his parents until he was thirty years of age. He and his wife were life-long members of the Presbyterian church, in which he held the office of trustee for several terms, and was also one of the building committee of the old Muddy Creek church. In politics, he was an ardent Republican, and filled several township offices at different periods.

General Notes: Wife - Nancy Hays

She died at forty-three years of age.
The year of death 1863 given by [MRF, 13] is probably incorrect.
