General Notes: Husband - Maj. John Polhemus


He had a very distinguished record in the Revolutionary War.
He was a personal friend of Lafayette and Gen. Washington. He served in the expedition to Canada, in every battle around New York, across New Jersey, and around Philadelphia, which included the winter at Valley Forge, and also a two years' imprisonment in Provost Gaol and Sugar House Prison, New York City. Later, he was a member of the State Society of the Cincinnati of New Jersey.
