General Notes: Husband - Thomas Madison Liggett


He and his wife resided after their marriage on what was known as the James Beall farm, lying half a mile east of Independence, Washington County, Pennsylvania. He was a prominent agriculturist, devoting special attention to raising first-class stock, handling and fattening stock for the market. He voted the Democratic ticket, but gave his whole time to the interests of his business. He and his wife were members of the Presbyterian Church. He was a charter member of the Independence Cemetery Company, serving as secretary of that company beginning when it first started.
