General Notes: Husband - Samuel Frye

He was born in 1729. [CBRWC, 1082 & 1088] This doesn't seem quite compatible with other dates given for this family.

He and his wife came over-land to Washington County, Pennsylvania, at a very early day, and July 19, 1792, took a "tomahawk right" to a large tract of land in Fallowfield township. He was a famous hunter, and also worked on his farm, remaining in the fort at night for protection from the Indians.

He came to Fallowfield township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, from Virginia, in company with Henry Speers, each having married the other's sister. They were both coopers by trade, and each owned several slaves. During their early residence here they were much annoyed by the Indians.

He and his brother, Abraham, settled in Washington County, Pennsylvania, about 1768 or 1769 on a large tract of land bordering on the Monongahela River and lying between Maple and Pigeon Creeks, the tract being about ten miles in extent and from a quarter to a mile in width. [TCHWWC, 1142]

He and his brother served in the revolutionary war, Abraham being captain and Samuel lieutenant.
