General Notes: Husband - Henry Speers

He and his wife were born in Germany, came to western Pennsylvania [from Virginia] in 1772, and settled on the farm where the Gibsonton Distillery later stood, below Belle Vernon, Fayette County. The farm was at that time within the limits of Bedford County, out of which Westmoreland was made, Feb. 26, 1773. He lived in a log house, which, though small at first, was enlarged until it was sixty feet long. Henry Speers died in 1773, having lived only about one year after his arrival in western Pennsylvania. By his will, dated May 14, 1773, he conveyed this farm to his son, Noah Speers, who, by his will, dated June 2, 1832, conveyed it to his son, Noah W. Speers. [HWC 1882, 644]
