General Notes: Husband - Thomas E. Ferrier

When but fifteen years of age he began active life as a clerk in a store in Edenville, New York, where he remained three years. He then attended school for a year, after which he taught the following year at Bellevale, continuing thence westward as far as St. Louis and teaching for a year in Pike County, Illinois. Returning home he remained until 1866 when he removed to Catskill, where with his brother Robert he engaged in brick-making; after Robert's death he continued in partnership with Percival Goldin, his son-in-law. He was for a long while director of Catskill National Bank, being its vice-president at the time of his death. He was an incorporator, director, and officer in various local manufacturing and other enterprises; was town supervisor for several years, between 1885 and 1892, and treasurer of Greene County, 1893-96. In politics he was first a Whig, then a Republican. For the greater part of his life he was connected with the Presbyterian church, and was for a quarter of a century trustee of this church at Catskill.
