General Notes: Husband - George Dunham

He obtained a wide reputation in the western part of Pennsylvania for his mechanical abilities. In his early life he was a wagon maker and stone cutter and a brick layer, but with the development of his mechanical talents he obtained quite large contracts for constructing various furnace plants in that locality and finally became an acknowledged expert in this line. He was a resident of Sharon during the construction of the extension of the Erie Canal and assisted in building its first locks. Later he removed to the old homestead on land which his father gave him and there he passed his last days. He was one of the pioneer Republicans of Pennsylvania, casting his first vote for John C. Fremont and working enthusiastically for the success of the new party. In the early days of his manhood he was a Democrat, later a Whig, and finally, as stated, became a firm Republican. His religious faith was that of Methodism.
