General Notes: Husband - Benjamin Douthett

He was born in America and acquired a large amount of land in Butler County, Pennsylvania, and be-came a very successful farmer. In his younger years he had the reputation of not only covering a wheat field with his cradle faster than any of his companions, but also outstripped them when the next part of the work was undertaken, on one occasion raking and tying 110 dozen of sheathes of wheat in one day, a remark-able accomplishment. In 1880 he pur-chased the farm later owned by his son, Detmore W., from Armstrong Irving, and owned other land at the time of his death, which took place after he had retired to Mars, when he was aged seventy years. His widow survived him some years.
