General Notes: Husband - Peter Doty

He and his wife started from their home in the Empire state in the winter, about 1836, and, loading the bare necessities of life into one sleigh, took this conveyance and finally reached Crawford County, Pennsylvania. At this point, on account of an almost unprecedented fall of snow, they were obliged to abandon further progress and settled temporarily in Crawford County. In the following spring they continued their journey to Turnersville, Pennsylvania, and located near the present homestead of the Doty family, where they passed the remainder of their lives.
