1. John Hanna McAllister 1 was born in 1815 in Fort Hunter, Susquehanna Twp, Dauphin Co, PA1 and died in Sep 19001 at age 85.
He went to school at Downingtown, Pennsylvania. He was in the lumber business and had a saw mill at Harrisburg, between what became known as State and South streets, near the river, afterwards was a partner of John B. Cox. Being in ill health, and advised to try the climate of Minnesota, he removed to that state, and investing largely in real estate amassed a large fortune. He was one of the pioneers of St. Paul, and the owner of tracts of the most valuable land in the city.
John married Catharine Otto Wood,1 daughter of Joseph Wood 2 and Maria Otto,2 on 1 Jul 1839 in Estherton, Dauphin Co, PA.1 Catharine was born on 5 Aug 1816 in Reading, Berks Co, PA1 and died in 1895 in St. Paul, Ramsey Co, MN1 at age 79.

4. Thomas Gates McAllister 3 (John Hanna1) was born on 27 Jul 1844.3
He learned the trade of machinist at the Pennsylvania Railroad shops at Altoona, Pennsylvania, and afterwards at the Baldwin works in Philadelphia. He was third assistant engineer in the navy during the War of Rebellion, from June 23, 1863, to March 18, 1867. He served on the steam frigate Niagara on special cruise, and in the Engineer Department of Navy Yard at Portsmouth, New Hampshire. After 1867, he held positions in railroad shops at Laramie, Wyoming, and San Francisco, California. Eventually he resided at St. Paul, Minnesota, and was foreman of the Northern Pacific Railroad shops.
Thomas married Elizabeth Streator 3 in Apr 1874 in St. Paul, Ramsey Co, MN.3
She was from Red Wing, Goodhue County, Minnesota.
