General Notes: Husband - John Thompson
A native of Ireland, he came to America at the age of thirty, with his brother James. He married a woman of Welsh descent, and to them were born sixteen children, of whom fourteen attained maturity.
He tried to enlist for service in the War of 1812, but was not accepted on account of his age. He bought land in Ross (later Shaler) township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. He was an earnest and active member of the Presbyterian Church, and died on the homestead, at the age of eighty-five years. Politically he was a democrat.
