General Notes: Husband - John Alexander

He occupied and owned the mansion farm of his grandfather. He was partly educated with a view to the ministry in the Presbyterian Church, but feeble health compelled him to abandon it and turn to agricultural pursuits. He acquired a large estate, and was county commissioner from 1852 to 1854. He was for many years a ruling elder in the Presbyterian Church.

He received a liberal education in accordance with his father's will, but feeble health compelled him to abandon his studies, and he returned to the homestead of his grandfather, Reynold Alexander, which had come to him by inheritance. He became a successful farmer and acquired a large estate. He was a county commissioner of Franklin County, 1852-55; and was a ruling elder of the Upper Path Valley Presbyterian Church. [BAFC, 676]
