General Notes: Husband - Adam Dittman
He was reared and educated in Richland township, Clarion County, Pennsylvania, and in early life learned the blacksmith's trade, which he successfully followed in St. Petersburg beginning in 1857. He erected the third house in the town. He was therefore identified with the business interests of the place during almost its entire early existence, and bore his part in its upbuilding and development.
During the Rebellion he enlisted in Richland township, Clarion County, in 1862, in Company G, 155th P. V. I., for three years or during the war, and was mustered into the United States service at Pittsburgh. With the Army of the Potomac he took part in the battles of Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, the Wilderness, Gettysburg and many others, and after the Grand Review in Washington, D. C., he was honorably discharged at Pittsburgh in July, 1865, and returned to his home in St. Petersburg.
He was a stanch Democrat in politics, and served as high constable in his township for eleven years, and supervisor for ten years. He was a member of Lookout Post, No. 424, G. A. R. Religiously he was connected with the Reformed Church.
