He graduated at Yale College, Connecticut, in 1862. Soon after he entered the Union army as Captain of the 16th Pennsylvania Cavalry, under command of Gen. James Irwin Grigg. In the battle of Mire Run, near Orange C. H., Virginia, Nov. 29. 1863, he was mortally wounded, and died on the same day
