General Notes: Husband - J. H. Simpkins


He lived on the old Simpkins homestead in West Salem township, Mercer County, Pennsylvania, until 1870, when he purchased a farm about three miles away and thereafter lived on there. This farm consists of one hundred and fifty acres of thoroughly improved land and was known as the "Mary Hazen" farm. Mr. Simpkins also owned one-half interest in "Highland" farm, which consisted of one hundred acres purchased from the heirs of Peter Simpkins. Mr. Simpkins was an active factor in religious work and public affairs, being a member of the Baptist church at Maysville for thirty-four years and a trustee and superintendent of the Sunday school. He was a Democrat and served two terms as township auditor.
