General Notes: Husband - Hezekiah Alexander
He was born in New Munster, Cecil County, Maryland. He accompanied other members of his family to North Carolina about 1754. He became a magistrate and member of the Mecklenburg County Court at the organization of the county in 1762. He was a member of the District Committee of Safety in 1775; member of the convention that promulgated the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence, May 20, 1775; member of the state council in 1776 and of the Provincial Constitutional Convention in 1777. He lived four miles east of Charlotte where he erected a stone dwelling that still stood well into the twentieth century.
