General Notes: Husband - William Dickey
He came to the United States in 1812. The vessel in which he sailed was captured by a British man-of-war and all the crew over twenty-one years of age and unmarried were pressed into the service of the captors. William Dickey deserted twice, was recaptured and severely punished, but succeeded in making his final escape from Halifax. After a few years spent in New York and Philadelphia, he removed to Mauch Chunk, where he remained until 1830, and then removed to Beaver, Pennsylvania. In 1837 he settled in Irwin township. In 1843 he removed to Mercer County, near the site of Amity Church.
General Notes: Wife - Ellen McVicker
When a widow, she came to America with Dickey in 1812.
