General Notes: Husband - William Cummins
He served as an Indian scout along the Allegheny river in Pennsylvania.
After being married, he purchased land on Two-lick [creek], and built a gristmill near the later site of Upper Two-lick mills, which he sold to Mr. J. Agey, and removed to another homestead in 1806, where he later died.
In 1806 he purchased of Robert Elder a tract of land on Crooked creek, Indiana County, Pennsylvania, containing about 1,200 acres, and took immediate possession thereof. On this Elder had made an improvement and built a house and two barns, one of which was still in use in 1880, in quite good condition, having been built most probably some time early in the decade of 1780.
He was born in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, and moved to Indiana County, Pennsylvania, where he bought a farm near Two Lick. In a short time he sold it and moved to Crooked creek. He was a stock-dealer, was very successful, and at his death owned nearly one thousand acres of land. He was a Whig, but never took an active part in political matters; a Presbyterian in religion.
