General Notes: Husband - Capt. David B. Herron

About the year 1841, he and his two older brothers, William and John, made Monongahela City, Pennsylvania, their homes, and they became, with him, identified with the business and social interests of the town for a number of years. Capt. Herron subsequently became identified with steamboat interests in the upper and lower river trade, acting in the capacity of chief clerk, and commander of some of the steamers. Many of his friends recollected his politeness, suave and urbane manner, his strict integrity, his high sense of honor, and obliging and generous disposition. He died from disease contracted by exposure on his steamboat in transporting troops, munitions of war and supplies on Tennessee and Cumberland rivers for the Union army.
