General Notes: Husband - Andrew Dewoody
He came to Venango County, PA, in 1791. [HVC 1879, 499] Unclear if this pertains to him or to his father.
He learned his trade at Pittsburgh, with Edward Patchell. He and his second wife had twelve children, of whom six sons were still living in 1879.
Andrew Dewoody, the hatter, whom all the old citizens remember, the little man who made those quaint little hats with stiff brims, and well finished up with honest work, who got his news from the “Arch.” At the night of the meteoric showers of 1836, when the shooting stars were flying in every direction, the boys called at his residence to wake him up, to see the grand sight. He told them “No,” and said, “What’s the use? I’ll see it in the Democratic Arch in the morning.” [HVC 1879, 478]
