General Notes: Husband - Isaac Dewees
He was born in Chester County, Pennsylvania, and grew to manhood in Ohio. Soon after his marriage he went to Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, settling in a log cabin on the farm where his son, James A. Dewees, later resided. The cabin had been built by his father-in-law, James A. McGrew, who, however, never made it his home, erecting in 1802 a substantial brick residence which was still standing on the farm over one hundred years later. Isaac Dewees was one of the early school teachers of the county and is said to have been the first man who ever taught geography in that part of the country. He was a member of the Society of Friends.
He and his wife had five children, two were deceased before 1906.
