General Notes: Husband - David Alexander
His first settlement was at Tioga, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, where he married. Having sold his lands in the East, he removed in 1810 to southern Illinois, and settled on the Great American Bottom, near Shiloh, in St. Clair County. He was among the pioneer settlers of that region, to which he took a family of ten children, whose descendants are numerous and widely dispersed. In the summer of 1822 David Alexander was killed by lightning while walking behind a wagon loaded with hay. The blade was melted off from a knife which at the time he was holding in his hand.
