General Notes: Husband - Elmer E. Deeds

He was raised on the old Deeds homestead in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. He was a pupil of the local township schools and after completing his studies there assisted his father on the latter's farm. After the elder man's death, Mr. Deeds purchased the shares of all the other heirs to the Deeds property and settled thereon and carried on general farming. The old farm was comprised of about one hundred and twenty acres of excellent farming land, and besides his general farming Mr. Deeds engaged in the dairy business and followed that line for some twenty-two years or more. He kept a very high grade of cattle, mostly of what was known as the short-horn variety, and met with a very high degree of success in his operations.
He and his family were members of the Ligonier Methodist Episcopal Church and were active in the work of that body.

She was educated in the public schools of Cook township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and afterwards taught school for a period of six years in Cook township. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church.
