He attended the public and high schools of Bruin, Butler County, Pennsylvania, and in 1922 graduated from Grove City College. He then was connected with the Butler County Oil Company, of which his father was a stockholder. Politically, Mr. Cross was identified with the Republican party and he was a member of the Presbyterian Church. He belonged to the American Chemical Society.
