General Notes: Husband - James Kerr


He was reared on the farm in Cumberland Township, Greene County, Pennsylvania. He attended the common school and chose farming as a business, working by the day and month to get his start in life. He drove hogs from Greene County to Baltimore for twenty-five cents and two meals a day. He practiced the most careful economy and became the owner of a valuable farm of 375 acres.
In politics Mr. Kerr was a Democrat. He served as school director in the township. He and his wife were prominent members of the Presbyterian Church.

He and his wife had eight children; five were still living in 1888.
